Creating consistent, calm and supportive learning environments where every student can learn.
At our school, we know students learn best in calm, predictable and supportive classroom environments. The Positive Classroom Management Strategy helps teachers establish consistent routines, clear expectations and shared language so students know what learning looks like and feels like every day. By proactively teaching behaviours and reinforcing positive choices, students feel safe, respected and ready to learn.
Classroom expectations are clearly taught, practised and displayed so students know exactly what positive behaviour looks like. When expectations are predictable and consistent, students feel safe, confident and ready to learn, reducing confusion and supporting success.
Clear procedures and routines help students understand expectations for everyday actions and transitions. When taught explicitly and practised regularly, they minimise confusion, strengthen independence and ensure classrooms run safely, efficiently and ready for learning.
We intentionally recognise and reinforce expected behaviours through specific, immediate and frequent positive feedback. Behaviour that is reinforced is more likely to continue. When students feel seen and successful, they are motivated to repeat behaviours that meet their needs appropriately.
Behaviour is functional and serves a purpose. When behaviour doesn’t meet expectations, we respond calmly, consistently and respectfully using brief instructional strategies to re-teach expected behaviour, helping students learn more appropriate replacement behaviours that meet their needs.
Providing regular opportunities to respond increases student participation and strengthens learning. Whether through questions, signals or collaborative responses, active engagement improves understanding and behaviour, helping students stay focused, involved and successful in the lesson.

In every classroom, families can expect to see consistent routines, clear expectations and shared language that help students feel calm, confident and ready to learn. Teachers use proactive strategies such as explicit teaching, active supervision and positive reinforcement, alongside calm redirection when needed. Success is regularly celebrated, helping students stay motivated, connected and proud of their learning.
