Social & Emotional Learning

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) at Mindalk equips students with the skills they need to understand themselves, build positive relationships and navigate their world with confidence. The program aligns with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 capabilities, supporting students from Foundation to Year 6 to recognise emotions, develop empathy, communicate effectively and work collaboratively. SEL strengthens students’ ability to manage challenges, make responsible decisions and interact respectfully with others, forming a crucial foundation for wellbeing and academic success.

Program Overview

Students engage in structured lessons that explore emotional literacy, personal strengths, inclusion, identity, resilience and teamwork. Through discussions, scenarios, role-play and reflection, they develop strategies for self-regulation and positive relationships. SEL learning is embedded across the school day, supporting playground interactions, group work and whole-school initiatives. The program empowers students to understand their own needs, use respectful communication and build the social confidence required to thrive at school and beyond.
